Granola can be expensive in supermarkets, which is why I love making my own! It's so easy to make and can be a comforting breakfast, especially when you add spices like cinnamon (my favourite!). You can throw anything like nuts and seeds into granola, whatever you feel goes nicely with the rest of the ingredients! I also love adding dark chocolate chunks or chocolate chips to make it even more delicious.
Here's what I like to add to my super simple and easy granola:
- EASY HOMEMADE GRANOLA -
You will need:
- 2 cups oats
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup cashew butter or other nut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- cinnamon (I add lots, but add it to your taste)
- a handful of dark chocolate chips
- a handful of pistachios
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 200C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, combine the oats, maple syrup, nut butter and vanilla extract.
3. Add the cinnamon to taste.
4. Fold the dark chocolate chips and pistachios into the mixture.
5. Pour the mixture onto the lined baking tray and place in the oven for 15 minutes.
6. Once cooked, allow the granola to cool before breaking it up into smaller chunks.
7. Store in an airtight container and keep for 4-5 days.
