Trust me when I say you can transform something as simple as a cauliflower into something incredible. These sweet and spicy cauliflower wings are something special.
They’re sweet, sticky and spicy!
If you don't have panko breadcrumbs, then you can make your own breadcrumbs by mixing some bread in a blender.
You can also use maple syrup or golden syrup (this will make them stickier) if you don't have agave syrup on hand.
You will need:
- 1 cauliflower
- 1 cup plain flour
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
for the sauce:
- 6 tbsp vegan butter
- 2 tsp garlic (3 cloves)
- 1/3 cup agave syrup
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp chilli flakes
- juice of 1/2 lemon or lime
Method:
1. Cut the cauliflower into medium-sized florets.
2. Combine the plain flour with the salt, pepper and water.
3. Pour the panko breadcrumbs onto a plate.
4. One by one, add the cauliflower to the batter. Once coated, roll it in the breadcrumbs until covered.
5. Add the coated cauliflower to the air fryer for 20 minutes at 190 (you can also add them to the oven, but they may take longer, around 30 minutes)
6. To a saucepan, add the butter, agave syrup, cayenne pepper, chilli flakes and lemon/lime juice.
7. Place on low heat until the butter has melted and it is hot.
8. Once the cauliflower is cooked, place into a bowl and pour the sauce on top.
